Day 19
Hi everbody!
this is the weekly report abbreviated!
since my last contact, we have been to Fortaleza, Recife, Natal and
Sao Sebastio do Salvador de Bahia ie Salvador. the last is the
cleanest town so far in Brazil - very little litter and much tidier
than other places. It's incredibly hilly and full of cathedrals like
all the other cities over here, but it had a really nice feel to it.
After the pommy crowd got off in Recife, we were offered an upgrade to
an outside cabin and we did the sums and decided it was worth the
extra money. We have since been released from our tomb and have two
windows in our new cabin - no 5271.
Tomorrow evening we arrive in Rio de Janeiro for Monday and Tuesday and I’m going on three tours -
one to the statue of Christ the Redeemer that overlooks the city,
one to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain,
and the last on a jeep tour to the forest remaining at the rear of Rio. the last is highly recommended by the two biologists we have on board.
In fact, Mike is going on the same one I am. Sue (Mike/s wife) insisted he go as she's been before.
I have so many good photos, and I'm getting really good with my camera
now. I can't wait to find a way to send the pictures!
Getting very sick of formal dinners, but the rest of the cruise is great. I don't
think I'll do another cruise like this, though - the pace is too slow when
we go on land.
In future (after Rio) I think I'll go with a couple of other Aussies who share a taxi and do things independently. Except maybe in Ushuia and the Galapagos. I still have to organise the Galapagos:o(….bye for now almost finished allotted time slot.
Day 12
Time flys...
the WiFi onboard is hopeless hence the lack of updates...I will email Geoff weekly and he will upload details to the blog on my behalf..had my 50th birthday far up the Amazon river and we have just left it now...a long way away from the floods reported in the news. I've lots of stories even this early in the voyage but will cover from this point on...

Learning the ropes
I'm sitting here at home anticipating my adventures in South America... but dreading the technology involved. I'm okay though because I've found a simple-minded pom who is introducing me to Google Blogs, so I'll be able to update you with progress on my trip.
.
Actually, he's even dumber than I thought as he is actually writing this blog, complete with typos. He should have learnt to type. (As I say, he's the one writing this, 'it ain't me gov').
.
Let's see what happens when I upload, send him to the pub to look at the sea (he's salivating) and...
